Baggage Transfer Terms and Conditions

  • All luggage must have the name of the lead booker on each item of luggage.
  • We must be informed if any accommodation is booked under a name different to the lead booker.
  • There is a minimum 1 bag per walker policy on all routes.
  • A minimum of 2 bags applies to certain routes.

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE & EXCESS

  • Clients’ baggage transfer covers one piece of baggage per person and must not exceed 20kg in weight.
  • No items to be attached to the exterior of the bags booked for transfer.
  • Dedicated medical bags will be transferred by arrangement, free of charge, e.g. CPAP Machines.
  • If a single item of baggage exceeds 20kg but less than 25kg we will move the bag once only and clients will be invited to redistribute weight between booked baggage.
    Should they be unable to do so, a laundry style bag will be provided with client’s baggage after the first bag transfer. This additional bag can be kept by the client and the extra baggage transfer will incur an additional fee which can be paid by cash or card.
  • If a piece of baggage is 25kg or more it will not be transferred, as this contravenes UK Health & Safety regulations. Should this occur, clients will be notified.
  • If clients exceed the number of bags booked, an additional fee will be applied.
  • Any unscheduled baggage or people transfers will incur additional fees.
  • Clients are not permitted to travel with their baggage transfers.
  • Transfer of dogs by arrangement only.

LOGISTICS & TIMINGS

  • Baggage should be made available for collection by 9:15am each morning, with the exception of those travelling North to South whereby an 8:15am collection is required. If we need to alter this time, we will contact clients directly.
  • Although we are unable to give specific timings, we endeavour to deliver baggage by 4pm.
  • If clients expect to arrive at their start point later than 10.30am a late collection fee of £25 per booking may apply.
  • Baggage drop/pick up is available at:
    Fort William: We recommend booking directly with Bag Stasher service at Premier Inn, Fort William, then informing us of your collection code.
    Inverness: IT Tours & Taxis, 55 Church Street, Inverness. Open until 10pm. Cost for utilising the Inverness depot is £5 per bag.
  • Baggage Storage: Baggage storage for the duration of your trip is available at the standard baggage transfer rates.
  • Out of Hours Helpdesk: After 5pm please email bookings@lochnesstravel.com marked URGENT or call +44 1463 832 566.
  • Airbnb & Wild Camping: We will only deliver to Airbnbs or Wild Camping areas if we receive confirmation from the client that unrestricted and secure access for bag collection/drop off will be possible.

LIABILITY

  • No liability for loss or damage to baggage, or the contents, is accepted by the carrier. It is strongly recommended that clients have their own insurance for their baggage, as part of their personal or travel holiday insurance.
  • High value, breakable items or camping gas must not be left in bags booked for transfer.
  • Musical instruments for transfer are by arrangement only.

CANCELLATIONS & AMENDMENTS POLICY FOR ALL TRANSFERS

  • For any last-minute booking amendments or cancellations that clients may have during their trip, please email bookings@lochnesstravel.com marked URGENT, or telephone +44 1463 832 566 within office hours (9am-5pm)
  • If clients choose to cancel;
    – 28 to 8 days from the start of their trip 50% of the total trip value will be charged.
    – 7 days or less from their trip start date will be charged in full.
    – Same day cancellations may be subject to an additional admin fee.
  • If a booking was paid for in advance, we reserve the right to charge for any bank processing fees incurred.
